The success of microfinance depends on the hard work of Field Officers who work with microcredit borrowers around the world. Honoring these heroes of microfinance is one of our Field Team’s favorite quarterly initiatives.
The Whole Planet Foundation Latin/North America team received many nominations for outstanding Field Officers working in the region in the last few months. We’re proud to honor Irma Dolores Lainez de Bonilla as a Grand Prize Winner.
Irma manages the Cojutepeque branch of our microfinance partner ASEI in San Vicente, El Salvador. For 23 years she has worked in this region, which is affected by extreme poverty. Many of her 338 clients have been borrowing from ASEI for several years.
Irma’s colleagues at ASEI had this to say about Irma: “She represents the values of our institution because, in her words, clients are the most important part of her work. She accompanies them in good times and bad; she offers them support, especially when a natural disaster has occurred or when clients simply need to talk to someone about their problems and challenges.”
After the recent eruption of the Chinchontepec Volcano in El Salvador, Irma met with her clients to discuss loan products specifically designed to help rebuild their homes.
Throughout her tenure with ASEI, Irma has been able to maintain a strong portfolio due to her ability to successfully analyze loan applications and connect with clients. Her dedication to her client’s success represents ASEI’s goal to eliminate poverty in El Salvador one loan at a time.
We appreciate Irma’s hard work and dedication, along with the many other field officers who work tirelessly to serve microcredit clients around the globe.
