Guayaki Yerba Mate is native to an eco-region that borders Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, home to indigenous peoples and over 300 species of flora and fauna. Deforestation due to logging and monoculture has led to rapid loss of biodiversity, soil erosion and carbon emissions in this area. Guayaki has a business model for Market Driven Restoration, which directly links product sales to reforestation. The more yerba mate you drink, the more rainforest is protected and the more people have fair paying jobs!
Together, Guayaki, as members of our Ten Thousand Dollar Fund, and the Whole Planet Foundations support the advancement of developing communities, in South America and around the world. You can help us by voting for Guayaki in the BBC World Challenge. If Guayaki wins, the Ache tribe in Paraguay will receive $20,000 to support food security in their local community. Every vote counts!

I spent some time studying in Argentina where I not only discovered how delicious and beneficial mate is, but spent some time learning about mate drinking culture and visited mate growing regions. I fell in love with it all! Now that I am back in the States I can continue to indulge in ritual of mate drinking with Guayaki loose leaf mate and support the sustainable growth of the region.
Love me some Yerba Mate!
Loose leaf Yerba Mate is the best! I voted and had all my friends vote! Afterall, what can be better than sipping on tea while protecting the rainforest and insuring fair paying jobs! Thanks Whole Planet Foundation for spreading the word!
I love Guayaki Yerba Mate, especially the Pure Passion. So happy to find the Guayaki brand in my Whole Foods Market!
I’ve been an avid drinker of Guayaki Yerba Mate for over a decade now. Not only has this company been an inspiration to me as a magickal ritual practice but they have always been a perfect model of soci-environmental business done the right way from start to finish. I support mate every single day and not only happily cast my vote but am doing my part to make sure anyone with computer access who’s ever sat with a gourd in my livingroom casts a vote for Guayaki as well. Thank you for pointing the spotlight on these guys, this is what’s up for 2012….
I first discovered Guayaki and the yerba about 10 years ago when Guayaki did a demo in our health food store. I was blown away! The taste, the energy, the clarity, and the knowledge that you were supporting not only a good/clean company but a sustainable community thousands of miles away was just too much. Thanks Guayaki for your gift to all of us.
Love this stuff
