Fonkoze was founded in 1994 by Father Joseph Philippe, a Haitian priest who wanted to enable the rural poor in Haiti to organize themselves economically. Since then, Fonkoze has grown into a globally recognized institution with 46 branches covering every area of Haiti, providing both financial and development services including education and health to support our 60,000-plus microfinance borrowers.
