Celebrate Poverty is Unnecessary Day with us on October 25, 2021
Each year, on October 25th, we celebrate the 5% Giving Day in Whole Foods Market stores in 2005 which raised seed funds for Whole Planet Foundation. We call this anniversary "Poverty is Unnecessary Day" because of the words of Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank, Noble Peace Prize Laureate and initial advisor to Whole Planet Foundation.
We will share details about our 2021 Party with a Purpose soon. If you are interested in learning more about our 2021 event sponsorship opportunities as a Whole Foods Market Supplier, please contact Sandy.Mariscal@wholefoods.com For all others, please contact Joy.Stoddard@wholefoods.com.
Sponsorships help us reach our programmatic goals to reach entrepreneurs living in poverty around the globe.
Thank you for joining our 2020 event!
More than 900 attendees joined us for our first-ever online auction, placing over 1,200 bids on 190 local and global auction items. Together, generous sponsors and event attendees raised more than $44,000 toward our mission. These funds can create about 250 average first microloans for people living in poverty around the globe.

Celebrate Poverty is Unnecessary Day
Our third annual Party with a Purpose benefit and auction in our hometown of Austin, Texas featured a silent auction with 100+ local and global items, food, drink, entertainment, and the opportunity to alleviate global poverty with Whole Planet Foundation. Above photo caption: Party with a Purpose with donors and supporters from our wide community of partners, including local Austin family business, Franzetti Jewelers, pictured here with WPF's Joy Stoddard.
$50 tickets included food, drinks and entertainment. Proceeds from the event benefited entrepreneurs living in poverty.
