Dr. Gabriela Salvador, MD, MPH, Director of Health and Human Development said, “It is a one-stop shop. Women come to us for loans and we take the opportunity to reach out to them and give them health services and education.”
Whole Planet Foundation partners with many different microfinance institutions (MFIs) around the world. The Foundation partners with these MFIs and provides them with funds to support their microloan programs and provide a woman and her family with the opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty.
Sometimes, though, our partners, like Pro Mujer take their offerings a bit further. In addition to their business and empowerment traning, in 2010, Pro Mujer started an innovative pilot program in Nicaragua that combines small loans with essential primary health services like screenings, trainings and access to doctors.
