Thank you to two leaves’ Naomi Havlen, Copy Writer & Social Media Manager, for contributing to this post!
Did you know that tea is the second most consumed beverage in the entire world, after water? Here at two leaves tea company™ we’re very aware of that fact! Bringing high quality tea to people around the planet is our passion, and we’ve traveled the world seeking out the best in organic, whole leaf tea that inspires tea lovers. In our travels, we’ve seen the difference doing business in poverty-stricken communities makes in the lives of people.
Whole Planet Foundation believes, just as we do, that the working poor in developing countries will have a chance to lift themselves out of poverty through microcredit, and they’ve been walking the walk since 2005. Last month we teamed up with Whole Planet Foundation to give a portion of our proceeds from sales in Whole Foods Market stores to alleviate poverty all around the globe.
Two leaves™ is happy to reveal that after our two week promotion in early November, together we raised enough money for nearly five new microloans that will help 30 people to create or expand a home-based business to help lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
One more thing about Whole Planet Foundation: Not one dollar raised during our promotion went to administration costs for the foundation. Because it was established as the charitable arm of Whole Foods Market, the company covers all of the foundation’s administration costs.
“We team up with the Whole Planet Foundation because we appreciate that each time someone buys a box of our tea during a certain time period at Whole Foods,” says Richard Rosenfeld, CEO and founder of two leaves tea company™. “A portion of the amount customers spend goes directly to help poor, enterprising entrepreneurs.” We love that.
